This sermon answers the question of “who is Jesus’ family on the earth?”.
Jesus’ family has existed eternally through the loving relationship between God the Father, Jesus the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. This is the family Jesus calls people into.
Jesus makes clear there are two ways we are made part of his family. Firstly, by doing the will of God. We do this by believing in faith in Jesus who was sent to redeem us. We do this by encouraging others, not taking revenge, by being thankful, by rejoicing and by not quenching the Spirit.
Secondly, we do the will of God by growing in holiness. We do this by abstaining from evil and giving ourselves to God to be used by him.
The family of Jesus is truly special. We gather together corporately at his feet to commune with him and to listen to his teaching. Oh how blessed we are to be able to do this!
Lord, thank you for making a way by which we can be part of your family, help us to treasure evermore spending time with brothers and sisters at your feet.
