He Hears Our Cry | Jonah 2

This sermon encourages us to trust that God hears our cries.

Jonah finds himself in a desperate place of distress in the belly of a fish. His sin and disobedience has led him here.

It is from this place that he cries out to God for help. Jonah acknowledges his sin before God and repents. His repentance isn’t merely remorse, it is a concrete turning towards God, and making a commitment to follow God.

God gracefully provided a way that Jonah was delivered from the fish straight onto dry land. He was restored and recommissioned to fulfil the task God had called him to do.

Lord, examine our hearts and identify anything that hinders us from following you. Help us to develop a pattern of crying out to you in all seasons of life.
