This sermon unpacks the necessity and importance of Christians living Spirit filled lives that we might fulfil our purpose of bearing witness for Jesus.
A Spirit filled life looks like being more like Jesus. This includes imitating Jesus’ resistance of sin, ministering in power, and bold sharing of the good news. We are entirely dependent on the Spirit’s power in enabling this to happen in our lives.
We can be sure that the Spirit will fill us when we hunger and thirst for him because it is God’s purpose to make us more Christ like. However, we must ask not holding parts of our lives back, and know we won’t understand everything the Spirit chooses to do in us.
We are encouraged to continually be filled with the Spirit. For we need the daily empowering of the Spirit in our lives. The Spirit’s manifestation in our lives can present differently, but we must be open to whatever the Spirit wants to do. We are filled by hungering and thirsting after the Spirit asking to be filled.
Lord, help us to live Spirit filled lives, that testify of you to the world, and in doing so bring you more glory.
