This first sermon in our new Charismatic Church series unpacks glorious truths that explain who the Holy Spirit is. Before spending time looking at the gifts of grace given to the Church, it is beneficial for us to know more about the one who gives them.
Firstly, the Holy Spirit is a person not a distant force. Scripture shows us that the Spirit has a will, makes choices, has a mind, and has emotions. However, he is the Holy Spirit because he is set apart from every other spirit in the world. Unlike all others, he alone is the third person of the trinity, and truly God.
Secondly, the divinity of the Holy Spirit is demonstrated in his works. He was active in the creation of the universe and in the life & ministry of Jesus Christ the Son of God. The Spirit works to bring new life to Christian’s, helps us grow in becoming more Christ like, and bears its fruit in our lives.
Lord, help us to grow in our love and knowledge of the Holy Spirit evermore.
