This sermon draws upon 1 Corinthians 12 and 13 unpacking what a Church filled with the Holy Spirit looks like.
Firstly, the Spirit filled Church glorifies Jesus Christ. As the Spirit moves within the Church, Jesus’ name will be spoken of, lifted up, and proclaimed as Lord.
Secondly, the Spirit filled Church is a unified body that cares for one another. We are all connected to Jesus Christ through the Spirit and therefore belong to the same body that Christ is the head of. There is God given diversity within this body and we need one another to fulfil our unified purpose of glorifying Jesus Christ. It is our privilege to suffer and rejoice together as members of one united body.
Finally, the Spirit filled Church abounds in love. For it is love that will never pass away. Spiritual gifts are an amazing blessing from God to his Church when these are used out of and motivated by love.
Lord, help us to be a Spirit filled Church, that glorifies Jesus, is unified, and abounding in love.
