This sermon is a great encouragement that God has plans and purposes for all his children.
Elijah after the great high of 1 Kings 18 finds himself deflated and depressed by the resurgence of God’s enemies. So much so, he takes himself off into the wilderness to die believing it is all over. It is in this place of isolation that God meets with and reminds Elijah he has important plans for him.
God provides the physical and spiritual sustenance by which Elijah is restored to carry out these plans. God meets Elijah’s physical needs by providing food for him to eat. God meets his spiritual needs by touching him through an angel and through whispering to him.
Lord, help us to hear your whisper, and to walk confidently in all the plans you have for us.
