Jesus teaches the Pharisees and us that what we say reveals what is in our heart. Since our words are sinful, we need forgiveness from Christ and we need to fill our hearts with the treasure of Christ – what we love in our hearts, is reflected in the things we praise with our lips.
Jesus, through word and deed, reveals his identity as the Chosen One who bring justice to the nations. he also rebukes the Pharisees and heals miraculously.
As the Pharisees challenge and seek to undermine Jesus, he teaches them about the true purpose of the Sabbath and shows his amazing compassion to a man with a withered hand. The Pharisees, in anger, decide to put him to death.
