We have devoted significant time as a Church to preaching through the whole Gospel of Matthew. In this wonderful book of the Bible, Jesus is depicted as the King of the Kingdom of Heaven. His teaching on the Kingdom Life (most famously the Sermon on the Mount) is set against the Work of Christ, as he shows the World his awesome power, authority, compassion and love.
As he works and teaches, he calls us to follow him and become citizens of this blissfully happy kingdom. And he wins our access by dying on the cross for our sins and rising again on Easter Sunday in glory.
