This chapter declares that all humans have been made in the image of God. Therefore, we all carry in some way a mental, social and moral imprint as a result of this. This of course was tarnished by Genesis 3 and the fall which we will look at next week. However, this is the reason Jesus came to earth, the perfect created man in the image of God, who remained untarnished, so that we could be restored to a pure relationship with God. Through the giving of the Holy Spirit this restorative process continues today.
We also see in this chapter how God is intimately involved in creating man & woman. God takes great care and detail in this forming process. He then breathes life into man, a true illustration, of how God is and intends to remain close to his creation. God then creates an abundant source of food that is beautiful for humans to look at, enjoyable work for humans to do and finally in Genesis 3 walks with Adam & Eve.
Come let us worship the God who created all the earth and chose to dwell closely with us.
