This sermon reminds us through the story of Hagar that God remains close to his people.
By societal standards Hagar was a worthless slave who could be mistreated and then disposed of. Yet, God see’s her at her lowest in the desert and bestows value on her life by meeting with her in person. God speaks to Hagar, addressing her directly by name! He saves her from the desperate circumstances she faces, providing her with a child, and promising her a future if she obediently returns.
Lord, thank you that you are the same God yesterday, today, and forevermore. Therefore, we can trust you see, speak to, and save us. We pray you give us ears to listen.
