This sermon addresses one of the most significant events in the bible. The story of Adam & Eve and the fall in the Garden of Eden.
We were reminded from this chapter the way in which Satan through the serpent tempted Adam & Eve to sin. He subverted and twisted the commands that God had actually given them. This is still how Satan works today and therefore we must know Gods Word to be able to discern when truths are being misrepresented.
We were reminded that despite the actions of Satan, Adam and Eve still chose to sin. Their eyes became illuminated with the possibility they could have the same power as God despite this never being possible. This had devastating consequences for them and us. There was now death, shame and man & woman were cursed. This should make us pause for thought and take the opportunity to confess our similar sins.
However, we were encouraged that there is hope! God chose to make clothes to cover Adam & Eve’s shame. This was a foretelling of how the death and resurrection of Jesus the Son of God would cover our shame. Therefore, if we confess our sins, and accept Jesus as our Lord & Saviour death truly has lost its sting!
