This sermon is all about the intervention of Jesus Christ of which Moses’ life work foreshadows.
The starting point is having an awareness of the whole of humanities sinfulness from the very beginning. Our sinfulness continues as it did with the Israelites, the sins of stubbornness and turning aside are highlighted in this chapter.
God’s righteous and holy wrath is permanently upon sin. He has a fixed position of anger and hatred towards sin which is opposed to his pure holiness. Therefore, as those who have sinned, the wrath of God rightly rests upon us.
However, there is no need to despair if you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ. He is the perfect mediator who took upon his blameless self the wrath of God as our propitiator. He continues to intercede at the Father’s right hand side for his people. And God the Father who loves us greatly lavishes us with grace and mercy.
Lord, we are so thankful for Jesus Christ who is our propitiator, mediator and intercessor. We pray you may bring many more people into your loving, merciful, and graceful arms.
