God’s Faithfulness, Justice, and Power | Deuteronomy 2-3

This sermon picks up the next stages of the Israelites journey towards entering the promise land and draws out wondrous truths about who God is!

Firstly, God is extraordinarily faithful and compassionate. He cares about and blesses their work, he knows the trials they are experiencing, he is with them through these trials, and he always provides for his people.

Secondly, God is extraordinarily powerful. He alone has the power to change and transform hearts. He justly hardens the heart of Kings that oppose his people and gracefully softens the hearts of his people who were once far from him.

Finally, God in the person of Jesus is the leader who died for our sin and the resurrected King who leads us into new life. This is seen in the roles that Moses and Joshua fulfil in this narrative. They both point towards Jesus’ life work that was to come.

Lord, as we reflect on these wondrous truths about who you are, let it lead us into a deeper love and knowledge of you.
