Community & Obedience, Sorrow & Joy – Ezra 2 & 3
Ezra 2 contains a long list of names and numbers. It’s the sort of chapter we often skip when we read scripture, but within that list is a reminder of Israel’s history, God’s love for family and several pointers to renewed obedience amongst the Israelites returning from exile. And then in chapter 3 work on the temple begins again and there’s a mixture of joy and sorrow amongst the builders.
Gospel work, kingdom work here in Fareham requires obedience and community and there will be times of sorrow, but also great joy, as God shows his faithfulness to his people.
