Lindsey’s Testimony

Lindsey’s Testimony

Hi, my name is Lindsey.  I became a Christian in 2011 during an Alpha course recommended to me by my husband, Hugh.

In January 2022 I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to my liver.  I started palliative chemotherapy treatment in March 2022 and sadly had to give up my job as a carer.  Both Hugh and I had a huge mix of emotions, we were worried and scared, not sure what the future will bring us.  But it also strengthened both our Faiths and has made us stronger as a couple.  I am still receiving treatment but by God’s grace the scans I have had are showing the tumour is smaller and the cancer, which was a mass in the liver is now just specks.  I don’t know what God has planned but I trust in Him completely.

The power of prayer is truly great and we keep praying for a full recovery.  A Bible verse Hugh has quoted many times is Matthew 19:26 ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible’ and we both fully believe that.  Hugh and I have talked about what the future could bring and while we believe he can heal me, we are also aware that God’s plan may not be a healing in this case, however we see this as a win-win situation.  If His plan is to heal me, be it through the doctors and treatment or through a wonderful miracle then I will be blessed with many more years on this Earth, being able to learn more about Him and encourage others by proclaiming His greatness and what He has done for me.  If His plan is to bring me home, then I will be with Him forever in Heaven.  I also know if it is to be the latter, that Hugh will be okay because he knows God will be by his side through times of trouble and difficulty.

I also would like to say thank you to everyone in the Church.  Hugh and I have been to many Churches and we can both agree, no Church has been as welcoming and as helpful as Christ Church Fareham.  Everyone has been so encouraging and nothing is too much trouble for anyone.  We feel blessed to know them all.
